January Newsletter
First of all, Happy New Year to everyone, I hope that you all had a good time and can look forward to a great 2023.
Last month I suggested photographing shiny things, well, the Christmas tree decorations make ideal subjects and here are two shots taken today. The only light that I used was the kitchen light and the tree lights.
As you can see, the depth of field is extremely shallow. This is because I had my aperture set at f4.5 and due to the low light I had my ISO at 6400, also because of the light, I had my shutter speed right down at 1/50 of a second. This was taking a chance since I was using a 90mm lens, so the possibility of camera shake was very high.
This year, if everything works out, I am planning to add some extra courses and to take on more commissions. My main aim however, is to actually get out and take photos. Last year I hardly took any photographs for myself and I hope to be able to change that this year. It will mean better time management on my part, but will be well worth the effort.
I also hope to become part of the Open Studios tour this year, so watch this page and I will keep you all posted.
